History of Malacca

Malacca Map

Malacca is a wonderful city for nice daytime activities or for a stay of more than one day. Malacca is a state in Malaysia and located in the southern region of the Malay Peninsula, next to the Straits of Malacca.
The state is bordered by Negeri Sembilan to the north and west and Johor to the south. Its capital is Malacca City, this historical city centre has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 7 July 2008.
Although it was the location of one of the earliest Malay sultanates, the local monarchy was abolished when the Portuguese conquered it in 1511. The head of state is the Yang di-Pertua Negeri or Governor, rather than a Sultan.

A'Famosa Fort

A'Famosa Fort

The fortress was built in 1511 by Commander Albuquerque because of the Portuguese  believed that Melaka would become an important port linking Portugal and the spice trade from China. Now there is only one gate left. The fort changed hands in 1641 when the Dutch beat the Portuguese and they renovated the gate in 1670.

The remaining bricks of the A'Famosa Fotress  around the Straits of Malacca.Another legacy of the Portuguese occupation of Malacca, this fort also built to defend the city against attacks by the sea hundreds of years ago. Recently restored to its former glory, the fort is a great reminder of the city’s past.

Porto Historia

Porto Historia seems to be the favorite spot of tourist in Malacca when the night comes. Well, knowing Malacca, you can always find a place to go to in the place even every weekend and one of those is Porto Historia right in front of Kapitan Kongsi Hotel, an imitation of a European-style building.

Some stalls selling a variety of hand made works of art, small antique, ceramic furnishings and all kinds of valuable secondhand collection that are all perfect as gift for your friends, family and loved one.

For me as a Malaccan, life of a night owl would not be complete without slurping down some cool drinks and savoring some piece of snacks as well as having fun, right?

Thanks to the wide range of stalls present at Porto Historia. You will not only enjoy specialty food and drinks but also lots of "Longcan" bottled drinks, roast lamb, mango ice sand and a lot more.

In addition, there are also a variety of affordable clothing  that you may buy.

Klebang Dessert

This desert in Melaka is actually a reclaimed land by Melaka developers and it has been years the extra pile of sands placed at the edge of the island. The location and scenery is so unique that you might think yourself has traveled to somewhere exotic like the Sahara Desert.

Actually there is nothing to say about this place,I just want to share the views and pictures around the desert.

The best time to visit Malacca Desert (Padang Pasir Klebang) is during sunrise or sunset hour. This is because you will able to get the amazing panorama during golden hour to create the amazing contrast on your background.
